Frequently Asked Questions

What does the name Methernitha mean?

The name Methernitha was created by the members to express, in one word, what it means for them to live in fellowship in this residential and working community. It has a personal meaning for each individual.

Do you have a church?

Our church is wherever we feel close to God and can serve Him with our whole being. This can be done anywhere, but especially in nature.

Are you a monastery?
We would have to completely redesign our community in order to be a monastery. In our community men and women live in the same houses, although there are also houses where the sexes are separated. This allows each individual to live according to the spiritual aspects which are important to him.

Some of our rules may remind you of monastic life, and probably serve the same purpose, namely, letting go of the physical bonds, addictions and temptations which hinder one’s spiritual development.

Of which confession are you?

We bear witness to Jesus Christ and his message of salvation, which is valid for all people.

Jesus Christ did not say: "I am the light of the Church."
He said: "I am the light of the world!"

Pastor Sieber

We, therefore, believe that anyone who wants what is good and also does it, and who practices love for mankind and all of creation is always on the right track. The various confessions have been changed throughout the years by people to conform to their perception of God - but, God does not ask of which persuasion we are - He looks at the deeds and into the heart of each individual!

If a man reaches the heart of his own religion,
he has reached the heart of all religions.

Mahatma Gandhi

What is your standpoint on the end times?

We look to the Bible for the answer to the question of the end times.

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,
nor the Son, but the Father alone."

-Matthew 24:36

In the past there were many people, such as Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, the children of Fatima and others, who prophesied great changes in the world if mankind does not change. Humanity has been warned and called to repentance time and time again by such prophecies. We believe that people's behavior affects the fate of the entire world.

"Human behavior leads to a violent end. But when the violent behavior is changed, it necessarily changes the end!"

Charles Dickens

When mankind once again respects the commandments and selflessly devotes himself to God and his fellow beings then his destiny changes along with the future.

Is one allowed to have a family within your community?

Everyone must choose his own path to God. Whether he wants to travel this path alone or with a family lies at the discretion of the individual. Although it must be said that it is not easy to have a family within our community because most of the living quarters do not have separate living areas which are suitable for a family.

What is your stand on celibacy?

For us celibacy is a special vow which one makes to God. Even in our Christian community many have chosen celibacy freely, but it is not conditional for membership in Methernitha. If someone has lived a celibate lifestyle for years and later decides to have a family nothing stands in his way.

Can one view the Thestatika in your community?

Our research group into alternative energy sources no longer exists, and the Thestatika can no longer be shown. None of the entries into the Internet regarding the Thestatika have been placed there with our knowledge or consent. We think that the Thestatika has helped to motivate people to find a way out of the dead-end of non-renewable energy sources.
